THE SHEEP ARE COMING!

I have finally set a date for my "Year of the Sheep" exhibition, which fills me with both excitement and intrepidation (click here for more info). Two conflicting emotions that often inhabit our minds on a daily basis, but somewhat more pronounced when taking a risk. I have only just finished my last artwork for the Chinese astrology series, ending with the monkey, which should have been fun, right? But I was plagued with so many decisions and not enough visions (ha, it rhymes!), that it took way, way longer than I would have liked.

So, my gorgeous Portia did a fine job of dislocating her elbow and breaking her humerus (not so, really) bone at the end of September. I'm so glad she did this in such a spectacular fashion - swinging from a vine, while singing "George of the jungle, watch out for that..." and the vine snapped. I told her she should have been spending more time on Instagram, or playing games on her Ipod, or inventing new ways to take one more selfie, but no, she has to go outside and climb a tree!

When that wasn't happening, I was desperately trying to get to a much needed meditation class on a Sunday afternoon. As luck would have it, when I re-arranged my whole weekend and nearly killed myself (and a few pedestrians) to get their on time, the class was cancelled! You can only imagine how stressful this situation was, I felt like strangling a feral cat at this stage. Sadly it's true. I've given up on the meditation for now, but dam, I still need it!

However, if the Year of the Sheep prediction has even a small morsel of truth in it, I am happy that that the Sheep are coming. Bring on those sheep, quick smart!

Below is a prediction for the Year of the Sheep in 2015

The Sheep (Goat) is a Yin energy, a symbol of peace, harmonious co-existence and tranquility. These elements will be the fundamental mood for 2015. Although there maybe calls for war and a countdown has begun, war may be avoided and a period of healing and compromise will be undertaken to ensure peace is preserved.

The Sheep is the symbol of the creativity and the arts, enjoying passive and nurturing periods. The healing process will be emphasized with regard to previous actions caused by those who have little respect for the human race or life itself. This year will see communities joining together with the belief that good will triumph over those forces that refuse to contribute to a peaceful way of life.

There will be greater concern amongst communities with getting back to basics and using deeper intuition to find solutions to problems that have been plaguing the world for some time.

Much will depends on this – the balance of international economy and social harmony is in only to be resolved within peace. Though war cries can be heard on either side, as the calming, gentle energy of the Sheep year spreads over the globe, sentiments will be kindled and wisdom will prevail. Fate will send ambassadors to change the faces of violence towards a peaceful compromise. It will not destroy the anger or desire for violence, but will place a blanket of constraint over these emotions.

Many will look into their hearts and arrive at the realisation that the path to peace and economic strength is through diplomatic rather than violent ways.
